        DOX THRASH (1893 - 1965)
        Sunday Morning.

Etching, 1939. 229x203 mm; 9x8 inches, full margins. Signed, titled and inscribed "W.P.A. Art Project" in pencil, lower margin. A superb impression of this scarce print, with inky, unwiped edges.

According to Ittmann, Dox Thrash completed 68 prints while working in the WPA between 1937 and 1941.

We have not found another impression of this print at auction in the past 20 years. Other impressions of this print can be found in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the St. Louis Art Museum, the Newark Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Harriet and Harmon Kelly Collection of African American Art, San Antonio. Ittmann 23.
