        Paysages et Intérieurs.

        The complete set of 13 color lithographs and 2 additional proof impressions, 15 color lithographs in total, on Chine volant, 1899.

        Edition of 100. With 2 impressions of Intérieur aux Tentures Roses I, the second and fourth states (of 4); and 2 impressions of Intérieur aux Tentures Roses II, the first and second states (of 2). Several of the images in scarce, early states: Intérieur aux Tentures Roses III, the first state (of 2) with variant colors; and A Travers Champs the second state (of 3). Printed by Auguste Clot, Paris. Published by Vollard, Paris. An extremely scarce set, with proof-like impressions with strong, fresh colors.

        With--La Naissance d'Annette, color lithograph, 1899. The scarce second state (of 3). Inscribed "Bon a tirer" and annotated in pencil, lower right. Superb impressions.

        This set was in Vuillard's (1868-1940) personal collection and passed at his death to his brother-in-law, the artist Ker-Xavier Roussel (1867-1944), thence to Roussel's son, Vuillard's nephew, Jacques Roussel, who inherited the set in 1944. Jacques Roussel sold this set of color lithographs, along with some pastels by Vuillard, to a French private collector in the 1950s, thence by descent to the current owners. Roger-Marx 31-44.
