        COWARD, NOËL. Autograph Letter Signed, Noël," to Marlene ("Darling"), praising a dress she wears in a photograph they are discussing, describing a bit from his performances at Café de Paris, and reporting his plans to visit New York in December. 1 1/2 pages, 8vo, written on recto and verso of a single sheet; horizontal fold. [London], 1 November 1954

        "The photograph is absolutely wonderful & the dress looks a dream & oh how I wish I could see you whirling on in that tiny hurricane.
        "I am having a lovely rich success at the Cafe de Paris & I got a beautiful laugh at the opening night by whispering 'Hullo' muskily through the mike & kicking an invisible cloak! I also leant against the piano with that imperious look & they cheered like anything. . . .
        ". . . Kindly keep a lamp burning in the window . . . Love love love love love."
        On June 21, 1954, at London's Café de Paris, Noël Coward introduced to the audience Marlene Dietrich, whose subsequent performance was recorded and released as Live at the Café de Paris. At the time, Coward regularly made cabaret appearances at the venue.
