        (AMERICAN INDIANS--PHOTOGRAPHS.) Rinehart, Frank A. Hattie Tom, Apache. Hand-colored platinum print, 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, unmounted; minimal wear; captioned, numbered 1400, and signed in the negative. Omaha, NE, 1899

        Another Rinehart photograph from the same sitting identifies her as a Chiricahua Apache. An article on the 1898 Omaha Transmississippi Exposition (when this photo was taken) recounts that "Little Hattie Tom, a Chiracahua Apache maiden, was the prettiest girl in the village. Boni Tela, a young San Carlos Apache brave, fell desperately in love with her. The affair terminated in disappointment to both, owing to the obstinacy with which they clung to their respective tribes."
