number 472 of 1475 copies on fine paper. extra-illustrated with over 150 17th-19th century engravings of relevant historical figures and scenes, and with a 1689 broadside relating to cromwell, reprinting parliamentary proposals "for the speedy and effectual Reducing of the Kingdom of Ireland" during the 1641 rebellion. These involved underwriting massive land confiscation and other measures to hinder the Irish rebels, with Cromwell named in the list of subscribers. He would later achieve notoriety for leading the brutal English conquest of Ireland in 1649-50. Wing E2457 and ESTC R27340 each locate multiple copies in Great Britain but only the Huntington Library copy in the United States.
