first edition of "one of the most wonderful swiss children's books" by the architect Paul Hosch illustrated [with] verses written in Basle dialect--Kaiser, Swiss Picture Books, page 33. Hosch, also known as Hosch-Wackernagel, trained at the Darmstadt Künstlerkolonie in architecture and design. These images to illustrate instructional rhymes show the influence of the Vienna Secession and Wiener Werkstätte mixed with a very witty and nonsensical flair.
