Additional Details

Scarce hand-colored engraving after a painting by Joseph John showing the girlhood farmhouse home of the famous Fox sisters, Margaret and Catherine, who claimed to have communications with spirits of the dead and helped launch the Spiritualist movement in the mid-nineteenth century. A syndicate of souls hover above the cottage while a figure enters the front door to join other glowing apparitions inside.
