Hazen (1733-1802) served in the French and Indian war with Roger's Rangers, after the war established himself as a fur trader and merchant in Montreal, arrested in 1775 as a possible spy, led a Canadian regiment in the Continental Army at the battles of Brandywine and Germantown, served under Lafayette at Yorktown.
