Additional Details

In 1769, Burke's pamphlet, Observations on a Late Publication on the Present State of the Nation, was published; in it, he criticized George Grenville's defense of the fiscal policies of King George III as they concerned the American colonies. Burke argued that the plan to tax the colonies and the homeland equally would result in a dangerous sentiment of alienation, which proved to be the case, as this sentiment played a significant part in bringing about the American Revolution.
