In the tradition of the great railroad posters by Cassandre, Fix-Masseau and Roland Hugon, an anonymous Polish artist has placed the headlamp of an oncoming train in the distance beneath a rising plume of smoke at the focal point of the distant rails. The movie is the famous Russian film Pojezd idjot na vostok ("The Train to the East"). Directed by Julij Rajzman, the 1948 movie is a love story about two people who meet on the Trans-Siberian railroad. It is a light comedy and a travelogue about and through the USSR. Apparently even Stalin stated that he enjoyed the film and would have liked to have been on the train.
