Decorated manuscript initial M at beginning of text. 4to, 208x151 mm, old boards, spine darkened and worn, rear joint partly cracked; marginal dampstaining in second half of volume with traces of mold, worsening toward end with paper corrosion and tears causing text loss on last 2 leaves. One of 3 undated editions of undetermined priority of a collection of comic and partly obscene anecdotes, the best-known Renaissance work of its kind. Poggio (1380-1459) was a papal secretary and humanist who contributed significantly to the revival of classical learning through his discoveries of early manuscripts.
