JULIAN ALDEN WEIR
Fisherman's Hut, Isle of Man.

Etching, circa 1889. 115x155 mm; 4 1/2x6 1/4 inches, wide margins. Signed in pencil, lower left, and titled in pencil, verso. A superb, richly-inked impression of this very scarce etching.

According to Getscher, Weir "owned several Whistler prints and hung one over his fireplace. In 1889 Weir went to the Isle of Man to do a set of eighteen etchings in the Whistler tradition, a sort of coarse, rustic version of the Thames Set," (The Stamp of Whistler, Oberlin, 1977, page 161).

Acquired directly from the estate of the artist, May, 2016.
