KEYSERLING, HERMANN. Three Autograph Letters Signed, "Count Hermann Keyserling" or "Hermann Keyserling," to psychoanalyst Dr. Theodor Reik, in German, including two written on postcards, concerning the publication of his essay on psychoanalysis in Der Leuchter entitled "Mythmaking Man." The first, declining to accept his essay, explaining that each submission must be related to the theme of worldview and way of life, and sending a program from the conference at which the theme was discussed [not present]. The second, discussing his essay, stating that the world is inadequately informed, and arguing against "Byzantine theologians." The third, sending a copy of his essay [not present], and requesting that the corrected galleys be sent to the publisher. Together 3 1/2 pages, 4to or oblong 12mo; moderate toning and chipping to edges of postcards, short closed tear affecting signature of one postcard. 2 October 1923: ". . . For the 1924 issue of Der Leuchter, a paper about psychoanalysis is out of the question. Each issue of the School of Wisdom's yearbook is a strictly organic whole, whereby each contribution relates to a given theme. The theme of the next Leuchter will be 'Weltanschauung und Lebensgestaltung,' pursuant to our last conference, the program of which I enclose, and the lectures of which will constitute the main content of this volume. . . ."
with--Autograph Postcard Signed by Countess Keyserling, to Theodor Reik, in German, noting that the Count is in Sweden and conveying his request that Reik submit his manuscript by February 15, and giving the address. 1 page, oblong 12mo. Hamburg, 29 January 1924.
