"I rec'd to day your letter . . . requesting to know the occasion of the resignation of Mr. F.C. Goodrich of Mass. His resignation was voluntary & with the assent of his father, & I recollect no reason assigned other than an unwillingness to continue five years at the Acad'y. His letter of resignation was forw'd to Wash'n & accepted by the Sec'y of War."
Nahum Capen (1804-1886) was an American writer who served as postmaster of Boston, 1857-61.
