Additional Details

3 August 1945: "Little did I reck when I was an ambitious young newspaper reporter that I'd ever enjoy the stupendous honor of seeing my effigy in the Saturday Evening Post. The Rotarian, as a matter of fact, printed it some years ago, but I never hoped to make the Post. I ascribe all this to earnest prayer and a clean life. [With a holograph addition:] Only the War Cry remains. . . ."
23 December: ". . . I only hope Dr. Houghton succeeds in his campaign. The holy Christian religion is in peril, and must be protected!"
