REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
Sheet of Studies, with a Woman Lying Ill in Bed, etc.

Etching and drypoint, circa 1641-42. 138x152 mm; 5 1/2x6 inches, narrow margins. Usticke's only state (e), with the 2 figures lower left very distinct, crisp, partially inky plate edges and the delicate horizontal scratches consistent with the earliest impressions. Ex-collection Ducs d'Arenberg (Lugt 567, verso); Dr. Albert Blum (Lugt 79b, verso); and with William H. Schab, New York, 1952. A superb, well-inked, crisp impression of this extremely scarce etching.

We have found only approximately 15 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years. Bartsch 369; Biörklund 38-2; Hollstein (White and Boon) 369.
