Sergio Trujillo Magenat was a painter, muralist, illustrator, ceramicist, sculptor, photographer and designer. Of all the words used to describe his work, the most all-encompassing is Modernist. His graphic work combined elements of the Art Deco movement and the Bauhaus, combined with his signature, elongated figures and distinct typographic style. A prominent, polymathic figure in South American art of the 20th century, he was the director of the Decorative Arts Department at the Bogota School of Fine Arts and oversaw publications for the Ministry of National Education. He was also the artistic director of La Revista de las Indias and the children's publication Rin Rin.
