TROTSKY, LEON. The Third International After Lenin. Signed and Inscribed, "To C[omra]de Max Sterling fraternally Leon Trotsky," on the front free endpaper. 8vo, publisher's cloth, backstrip faded, worn at edges, slightly cocked; bookplate on the front pastedown. New York, (1936); inscription: Weksal [Norway], 8 July 1936
After being exiled from the Soviet Union, Trotsky lived in a number of places, Norway among them. The Norwegian Labor Party, which rose to power in 1935, had had previous affiliations with the Communist International and the Second International, prompting Trotsky to seek and obtain a visa from Oslo.
