Thick 8vo, full sea green levant morocco, inlaid poppy design on the backstrip and front cover, turn-ins of inlaid poppies, brocade doublures and linings; all edges gilt, by Meunier, spine browned and with two stains, covers discolored. first edition. author's unique unnumbered copy on japan vellum, containing the autograph manuscript of the introduction, signed, on 2 pages; the original pen-and-ink wrapper designs by Eugène Belville, an original pen-and-ink sketch for the cover design by paul berthon, one unpublished plate at page 268, numerous proofs in various states of the cover, lithographed endpaper, binding, and wrapper designs, and other interesting material. Two numbered copies of this work were also issued on Japan vellum, but the present unique copy is Inscribed and Signed by the author. Provenance: the Henry William Poor collection, with bookplate.
