ZÉRÓ (HANS SCHLEGER, 1898-1976) TO EVERYBODY! EVERYWHERE. 1942. 29x36 inches, 73 3/4x91 1/2 cm. Stafford & Co., Netherfield. Condition B+ / B: restored losses and restoration in corners and at edges; minor restoration along vertical and horizontal folds. When the former director of the Empire Marketing Board, Sir Stephen Tallents, who had commissioned posters from Schleger in the past, began to work at the British Post Office, he called on his former employee to help create a series of informational images on how to best utilize the postal services. In this instance, Schleger toys around with sizes, a favorite technique of his, and depicts a diminutive man gazing at a huge envelope against an interesting background of dots. Instead of the address, a rhyming couplet gently reminds letter-writers to provide complete information when addressing letters.
