Small folio, 13x9 inches, moderately worn contemporary calf rebacked but preserving most of the original spine; scattered browning and light foxing, large general map with neatly repaired tears at central fold, foredge margins of several portrait plates extended with period paper, "Arx Principis Guiljemlmi" plate with the lower right corner replaced resulting in a small amount of printed loss. German text edition of this large descriptive survey of the Americas first published by Montanus in 1671, here translated (but more like pirated) by Dr. Olfert Dapper two years later. The book presents an excellent selection of maps and illustrations relating to Florida, Virginia, the Carolinas, Bermuda, New Amsterdam, the Caribbean, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and more.

Presently lacking the engraved additional title, portrait of Christopher Columbus, and the Vitzliputzli, Olinda, and Mauritiopolis plates.
