[SPECIMEN BOOK — ENSCHEDE, J., LETTERGIETERY]. Proef van Letteren, Welk gegooten worden in de Nieuwe Haerlemsche Lettergietery.
[Presumably Haarlem], 1768.
Octavo, 16-page introduction, or manifesto of sorts, in script-styled font, portrait leaf, followed by a collection of type specimens, bound in contemporary speckled calf tooled in gilt with repeated floral decoration at corners and within 5 of the 6 spine compartments, raised bands, red morocco lettering piece to one compartment, marbled endpapers (library paper label at upper corner of front cover, covers worn, slightly sprung, a few stains, a hint of marginal foxing within, though largely clean, first signatures pushed forward, else a solid copy). Provenance: Lengthy inscription by RF Schierbeck (?), Amsterdam, 30 Sept, 1862 at front blank, Bookplate of a printing guild (Boekerij van de Federatie der Werkgevers Organisatien in het Boekdrukkers Bedrijf) which is adorned with dolphins and serpents, additional marginal ink stamp at title-page.
