The prolific sculptor George Edwin Bissell (1839-1920) was a Civil War veteran. Much larger versions of this Lincoln pose stand in Clermont, Iowa and Edinburgh, Scotland. A few in this size have turned up at auction with square bases, but we have seen none at auction which were produced with this round base.
