Additional Details

Mayo (1924-1985) was among the relatively small but highly accomplished and talented roster of female illustrators of the 1950s and '60s, working primarily for the studio Fredman-Chaite. Known for her charming depictions of children and family life, she was chosen by such companies as Campbell's Soups, Texaco, Florida Orange Juice, and Sunshine Biscuits, in addition to General Mills, to create wholesome ad illustrations. Mayo also illustrated stories for Collier's, Red Book, Liberty, and numerous other magazines and newspapers of the day.
