An impressive promotional campaign for a nationwide black beauty contest. The 1960's saw the beginning of large corporate advertising campaigns aimed specifically at the black community for the first time. Clarence Holte, a noted African American book collector and "adman" was hired by BBD&O, one of the largest advertising firms in the world to head up an entire division, devoted to "black" advertising. This was one of his campaigns.
