Turn-of-the-Century Inventions. Together, 6 illustrations celebrating the telegraph, telephone, X-ray, combustion engine, electric arc furnace, and the phonograph, circa 1910. Watercolor and gouache on stiff paper. Each image measures 84x132 mm; 3 1/4x5 1/4 inches. Not signed. All tipped with archival tissue to window matte, penciled descriptions in French on versos with collector's inked initials "R.E."

Additional Details

A curious and very charming group of highly detailed illustrations. Each image has a blank colored band along the top margin and features a central image showing the invention being demonstrated; one corner bears an inset featuring the invention in detail, another corner inset contains a blank outline of a milk can, possibly indicating the company that issued the cards.
