Additional Details

Carving of an emaciated slave, kneeling with his arms bound behind his back. Slavery in Africa still persists, either literally or virtually. Many of its victims are young. The average age of the workers on the cocoa plantations, "apprenticed" by their families in many cases to settle debts, is 12-15 years old. A part of the Luba group, the Hemba people are located in South-Eastern Zaire, a province of Angola.
