Album entitled Africa, 1953 with 50 photographs documenting an apparent 12,000-mile reconnaisance trip around the continent, in which numerous gas stations and oil companies were documented.
With cross-continental views of both well equipped and shack-like service stations from Texaco, A.P.T., and Caltex, among others; busy marketplaces and accomplished street portraits of local citizens; oil storage terminals and company headquarters; and dramatic wildlife scenes from the Nairobi Game Reserve. Also included are photographs of a map with the traveled route, and a day-by-day summary of the month-long excursion. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto only to heavy pages, each with a typed caption. Large 4to, ornate blue boards with a mounted silver print, handwritten title, and the credit "T.L. Lenzen;" twin-bolt binding. 1953
