Additional Details

The White Pass & Yukon Railroad ran from Skagway, AK to the Klondike gold fields in Canada. At the time, it was the world's most expensive railroad project. This photograph was taken after construction was completed in 1900, and before being sent to the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in 1904. These photographs were originally found with related images by Nowell, and seem to fit his period and style.
