Additional Details

This report describes the potential for industrial gold mining along an 8-mile stretch of the Seventy Mile River which had been leased to the Devault Group. This was an extremely remote region due east of Fairbanks near the Canada line; the nearest settlement today is Eagle, population 86, about 20 miles to the southeast. It advocates spending $30,000 on preliminary mining facilities, with the expectation that $1,750,000 would be required for a full mining operation. The report is illustrated with 32 well-captioned photographs, each 3½ x 4½ inches, illustrating the wilderness area, including a very primitive "airport runway."
