Additional Details

Album appears to have been owned by three different people. The book was gifted to Arabella Cautley in 1830 by Mrs. Tattersall. The gift inscription is followed by 37 leaves of pen-and-ink and graphite studies, with the earliest signed by a member of the Tattersall family in 1809 and concluding with some manuscript notes dated 1855. There follow 10 beautiful pen-and-ink and watercolor ornamental studies after Henry Shaw. The volume concludes with 5 leaves of earlier graphite and watercolor studies of small English churches which are undated but appear to be from the 1830s-40s. A few smaller additional leaves with studies are laid in.
