Catlin's own signed and corrected copy of this scarce edition of his catalogue. Catlin fixes the spelling of numerous Indian names, and adjusts the phrasing of several descriptions. For example, the catalogue describes Catlin's portrait of Keokuk as depicted on "a fine blooded horse, which he had bought on the frontier for $200." Catlin corrects this figure to $300. Not in Howes; one copy in WorldCat. with--the next edition, incorporating most of these corrections: North and South American Indians: Catalogue Descriptive and Instructive of Catlin's Indian Cartoons. 99 pages. 8vo, original printed wrappers, minor wear and repairs; internally clean.
