Additional Details

The Deer Family act, also known as the Famous Deer Brothers, were Mohawks who toured the world performing tableaux such as the ones featured here, including "The Indian Camp Fire," "The Indians Burning Settlers' Cabin," and "Sensational Knife Duel." The best-known member was Esther Louise Georgette Deer (circa 1891-1992), who performed as Princess White Deer, here featured in her "famous songs and war dance." The Deer Family is given lead billing as "the most genuine troupe of real Indians ever seen" at the Empire Theatre of Varieties.
