First edition. Trixier accompanied three other Frenchmen to the Great Plains for a buffalo hunt with the Osage Indians in what are now Kansas and Oklahoma. 4 of the plates depict the Osages, and the other gives a few bars of Osage music. This copy bears a gift inscription by the author to a local political figure: "A Monsieur de Tourville, Prefet de l'Allier, hommage de l'auteur, Victor Tixier."
