Additional Details

Iga She (or Traveller) was a 13-year-old Omaha boy who accompanied his parents and other Omahas to Paris in 1883. They made an extended appearance at the Jardin d'Acclimatation exhibition, and photographs were commissioned by anthropologist Roland Napoléon Bonaparte, great-nephew of Emperor Napoléon I. This photograph comes from Bonaparte's scarce portfolio, Collection Anthropologique du Prince Roland Bonaparte: Peaux Rouges, where Iga She appears as subject #17.
