Thomas Leander "Lee" Moorhouse (1850-1926) came west with his pioneer parents in 1861, and became an amateur photographer while serving as the Indian agent on the Umatilla Indian Reservation in northeastern Oregon from 1889 to 1891. The Indian photographs in this group are titled Chief of Police, Crow Agency Chief Red Hawk Turn-Water-Falls (Wishram Tribe), Columbia River Esther Umahollis Winter on the Umatillia Reservation Wi-pa-ne-ta Celilo Falls, Columbia River (2 views) Sa-wat-tis, Umatillia Reservation Sees-yuse, Head Medicine Man of the Columbia River Tribe Umatillea Reservation, near Pendleton An Old Crow Indian (2 copies) [Untitled tipi]. The collection also includes 2 unrelated Moorhouse photographs, "Alice Archer in Jess of the Bar Z Ranch," and an untitled shot of what appear to be a white man and woman masquerading as Chinese. Finally, the collection includes an untitled view of a family and three tipis by the Detroit Photographic Company.
