(AMERICAN OUTLAWS)
Bonnie and Clyde after the shootout * Bonnie and Clyde's car after the shootout. Together, 2 silver prints, the images measuring approximately 6 1/4x8 1/2 inches (15.8x21.6 cm.), the sheets slightly larger, each with an Acme Press Los Angeles Bureau stamp on verso. 1935

Provenance: Front Page Collection

This print was originally exhibited at the Expo of San Diego in 1936. The exposition was first held in 1935 to great success, and so was repeated and redesigned the following year. One of the new buildings reflected the growing field of photojournalism and sensationalized news. The exhibition, titled Front Page and located on the main thoroughfare, highlighted events that had grabbed the front page of newspapers around the country between the years 1910 and 1935. They focused primarily on the sensational: gangsters, wrecks, murders, accidents, and ranged from the bombing of the LA Times building to the Lindbergh Kidnapping. This pair was exhibited on a panel alongside Pretty Boy Floyd, the American bank robber.
