Autograph Letter Signed, "GeoClinton," to "Dear Sir" [Captain Thomas Machin], inquiring how to repair a piece of artillery the fastest, ordering him to send the two 12-pounder guns, sending the brass 24-pounder from Fishkill, asking for news of his advance and, in a postscript, suggesting he use his scow to deliver the guns. 1 1/2 pages, tall 4to, written on the recto and verso of a single sheet; horizontal folds, scattered moderate foxing, toning to edges. I have ordered you the Brass 24-Pounder from Fishkill; . . . . if she should be lost at your Port you will be in Disgrace forever. . . .
