Additional Details

This German-text map is almost an exact derivative of the Claude Sauthier and William Faden plan of the same year, showing the British route to Fort Washington with the American defenses identified. The battles at Fort Washington and Fort Lee in November 1776 were major victories for the British, as they captured significant stores of American arms and ammunitions and injured 3000 of George Washington's troops. See Nebenzahl, A Bibliography of Printed Battle Plans of the American Revolution 117 and Stokes I, page 355.
