Additional Details

Second edition, after the Philadelphia Bradford edition. The journal of the Second Continental Congress from its convening through 1 August 1775, covering the opening months of the Revolution. It includes reports on Lexington and Concord, the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity for Taking Up Arms, the Olive Branch Petition, and more. Evans 14571; Howes J264 ("aa"). This New York edition is quite scarce, with only 4 examples traced in OCLC, and none traced at auction since 1920.

Provenance: inscribed by John Hotchkiss in May 1778, possibly the Yale graduate and New Haven printer who was killed by the British when they raided that town in 1779; inscribed by Samuel Nott in 1781, possibly the 1780 Yale graduate who preached in Franklin, CT for decades.
