Includes a resolution of Continental Congress, signed in type by John Hancock as president, in reaction to a famous British snub: "Resolved, that General Washington, in refusing to receive a letter said to be sent from Lord Howe, addressed to George Washington, Esquire, acted with dignity becoming his station; and therefore this Congress do highly approve the same." The British commander refused to address Washington as a general, as his appointment came from a Continental Congress they viewed as illegitimate.

Also includes the appointment of Benjamin Franklin as president of the Pennsylvania Convention, and a 3 July letter from the New York campaign.
