Includes 10 provision returns from Jonathan Clapp's militia regiment, taken at Moses Creek, Saratoga, and Stillwater, NY as part of the Saratoga campaign. Each return lists the company captains, how many men under their command, and the quantity of beef and bread issued. On the first day the lucky soldiers also received peas. The outer pages include the text of the congressional act concerning rations, as well as a title: "An exact account of the provisions drew in the detachment or reg't of Massachusetts Bay militia in an expedition to Moses Creek & Stillwater on July the 12th 1777."
