A letter from South Carolina evokes the uneasy lull in hostilities after Yorktown: "The British are all in their works near the Quarterhouse, and are dared to venture farther. Col. Lee often harasses them, and even picks them off at their works." A long essay complains of lazy, overpaid congressmen, under the heading of "Freedom of the Press." Brigham, Paul Revere's Engravings, pages 206, 209.
