Additional Details

A protest by local citizens against the transfer of Captain John Bell's local militia company across the river: "Wee are sencible what must be the result of this unhappy event, nothing but devestation, plunder and every cruelty that can be made use of by an ungreatfull enemy. Our cattle, horses, hogs, furniture, grain must undoubtedly fall into thiere hands." It reports on a Loyalist prowling in the region: "The noted David Peck, an infamous villain with forty odd men is now lurking into the woods. They are chiefley inhabitants of this state who joynd the enimy some time agoe. . . and are part of that infernall gang who took Major Blawvelt."
