(AMERICAN REVOLUTION--NEW YORK.) Sherman, Isaac. Report of picket guards shortly after the Battle of Stony Point. Document Signed as Lieutenant Colonel in Anthony Wayne's Corps of Light Infantry, addressed to Wayne, and apparently docketed by Wayne on verso. One page, 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches; moderate foxing, minor wear along one fold. (JMR) Np, 18 August 1779

Additional Details

Wayne's Corps of Light Infantry had captured Stony Point on the Hudson River in a surprise night assault on 15 July. The docketing on verso appears to be in Wayne's hand. The ink doodle to the left of the docket may also be his; depending on the powers of your imagination, it might be construed as the head of a horse.
