Additional Details

A fictitious vue d'optique depiction of the massive fire in British-held Manhattan on the night of 20 September 1776. British troops are beating suspected arsonists; several slaves (clad only in loincloths) carry pillaged trunks out of the burning buildings. The colorist has clad the British soldiers in blue, green, and pink, but no red coats are to be seen. See Cresswell 268 for another printing.
