New York architects Robert Barnard O'Connor and Walter H. Kilham Jr. joined forces in 1943. They were best known for university libraries and other institutional projects. Most of the buildings are not identified; some which are captioned include libraries for Princeton University, the National Library of Medicine, and New York's General Theological Seminary. Also included are 38 photographs and reproductions of proposals, renderings, and plans for libraries at Phillips Exeter Academy, Amherst College, Smith College, Trinity College, and more.
Photographers whose work can be identified here include Ezra Stoller Associates (2 photographs of Wollman Library at Barnard College, pictured above); Ira Wright Martin (12 photographs of various university libraries); Richard Garrison (24 of the Princeton University library and other buildings); Joseph W. Molitor (33); and Hedrich-Blessing of Chicago (5).
