This sermon was delivered at the memorial service for four missionaries who had been martyred on the Colorado River in 1781. The first half is devoted to historical notes on Franciscan missionaries in Sonora and Arizona. It is something like a sequel to Espinosa's 1746 Chrónica Apostólica and Arricivita's 1792 Crónica Seráífica y Apostólica. It was delivered in 1794, but not published until 1819.
