first edition of a popular instructional manual by a lithographer best known for his work on Audubon's Birds of America and McKenney & Hall's History of the Indian Tribes of North America. Most of the plates in this volume are generic landscapes, but the last 12 are identified scenes, including views of Harper's Ferry, Niagara Falls, Albany, and Harvard and Yale Universities. Not seen at auction since Swann sale, 6 May 1965, lot 317.
