The highly accomplished woodcarving of Mississippi native Elijah Pierce (1892-1984) was exhibited widely across the United States, and is presently held in many institutional collections. He was listed in the city directories of Columbus, OH for this 144 Everett Street address given on two of these documents from at least 1951 to 1957; he worked as a barber to pay the bills.
